How it works

Buying and selling on BookSwap takes minutes. Here's everything you need to know.

1

Create your profile

Sign up and tell us where you are and what you love to read. Your profile is your trust signal — add a photo, your canton, and the languages you read in.

2

List your books

Enter the ISBN — title, author, and cover fill in automatically from Open Library or Google Books. Add condition, price, photos, and delivery options in seconds.

3

Find books

Search by title, author, or keyword. Filter by genre, language, condition, price, or canton. Sort by newest or seller rating to find exactly what you're after.

4

Contact the seller

Send a message to the seller directly through BookSwap. Agree on the price, delivery method, and payment — by cash, TWINT, or bank transfer. BookSwap connects you; the rest is between you and the seller.

Earn your reader badge

Every book you swap earns you a badge — a small thank-you for giving books a second life. Badges appear on your public profile so other members can see your contribution to the community.

Pricing & payment

BookSwap is completely free for both buyers and sellers — no fees, no commissions.

Payments are arranged directly between buyer and seller, outside the platform. Common methods include cash, TWINT, or bank transfer. BookSwap does not process or handle any payments.

Shipping via Post CH typically costs CHF 7–9 for a standard book. Sellers can include shipping in the listed price or agree it separately with the buyer.
